Scoliosis, as everyone knows, is a curvature of the spinal column. What most people don’t know is there are at least two types of scoliosis.
- Congenital– the spine is curved due to mis- shaped vertebrae from birth.
- Acquired– almost always from trauma and bad posture
The congenital type of scoliosis is not a dead-end; nevertheless, it has increased challenges. The key is keeping the individual vertebra from locking up and then causing additional mechanical and nerve transmission problems.
The acquired type of scoliosis especially needs to be corrected since the spine, being an axial structure, needs stability.
Scoliosis doesn’t need to be feared; it must be managed and chiropractors are the masters.
